Personal Research-Allee

In the past week, I've spent about two hours sorting through New York Times articles about McCarthy, Murrow, and the See it Now Program. This time also includes when I've worked on my parts for the script.

Filming!

Last night we filmed from about 8:30pm to just before midnight. It was loads of fun, and went really well. We only have 3 more parts to film, and we got at least half of the script already filmed. Hope tonight goes well!

Also guys, I updated the script. I made what we haven't filmed yet bold so then you guys can kinda plan for what's goin' on tonight.

Team Meeting 11/29

Yesterday, we got about half of our filming done.

If  I do say so myself, it was pretty epic.

We're meeting tonight at eight to finish, and then we're editing on Thursday.

:)

Last night's meeting

Our group met last night from 8:30-12ish. We filmed approximately half of the footage we need and had a lot of fun. (At least, I did.) We're meeting again today at 8:30 to hopefully finish recording.

Team Meeting this week

We met Monday night for a couple of hours in the library and basically finished our script. I have a lot of confidence in what we've got planned.
We planned to meet Tuesday and begin filming, but the "blizzard" caused us to change the meeting to a later date.
Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Another effect for our fight scene?

Opinions? I think it'd be awesome to add at least a small portion kinda like this, where the lightning gets absorbed by the lightsaber. At least a couple seconds =] Anyway, I worked on this Wed. afternoon, took approx. a half hour, not too bad.

Workin' Hard in the Lib- Nov. 22

Today we worked on our script from about 8:15-10:45. It's just about done! Time to film tomorrow! The storyline is epic, the film with serious serene potential.

Scripting once more...

Tonight from 8:00pm to undisclosed time (a few hours or so) we worked on finishing the script. We plan on filming tomorrow morn/afternoon/night. However long we need to get it done. It's gonna be AWESOME!!! We're so ready to see our script on film and all the special effects added! =]

Group Domination of a Developing Script- Nov. 19

As a team, we worked on our script from 9:30-1:30. I, Rhett, missed about an hour because I had to go to a class. But, we made good progress, and will continue to do so tonight.

Nov. 18- Personal

I, Rhett, did some more personal research on McCarthy, in particular. I also researched the true realities portrayed by the film "Good Night and Good Luck." This process took an hour-and-a-half, maybe two.

Test Movie

Alright guys... I got a test movie for our ending... (which takes forever I've found out!) But it's gonna be freakin' awesome!!!! So anyway, here's the vid.

P.S. - Does Brenda read these, or just look to see we communicated? Well, Dr. Cooper, if you do read these, please don't cheat and look at my test videos I've uploaded haha =P

Library meeting yesterday

We were in the library from 9:30-1:30. We got a lot of the script written, and we plan to meet again Monday to finish it so that we can be filming on Tuesday. Our team is great.

Meeting

Our meeting yesterday was very successful. We laid out the storyboard for our movie and plan to get together again on Friday for a few hours to write up the script. It's going to be a very creative rendition. :)

Research

This weekend, I did an hour and a half of research on the facts behind our movie.

Team Meeting 11/16

Today we had a bomb dot com meeting. We were able to create a storyboard and exchange our ideas. We set our filming dates. We decided on tasks, who needs to get what and such. Our next meeting will be Friday afternoon when we will write our script.

:)

Prepare to be...BLOWN away.

Group Time- Nov. 16

Today we drew out the entire storyboard of our film. The storyboard that we created has loads of potential and promises to be an entertaining film, if executed well. Everyone had great ideas and we were clicking as we conceptualized the film and put it to paper with the storyboards.

Nov. 11- Doin' Research

Today I, Rhett, did some research on my topics of construction of reality by "Good Night and Good Luck,"and the construction of reality of the film as analyzed by the New York Times. It was some good personal time with communism, film, and all of their beauties.

Nov. 10- Group Viewership

The evening of the 10th we watched "Good Night and Good Luck" together. It was great. We analyzed the film by taking notes on the different theories related to it- with frames, themes, historical facts, and so forth. I was able to take some great notes about these various elements.
As evidence of our group unity, we also enjoyed waffles with plenty of toppings as we watched the film. Unfortunately, Jake doesn't like waffles, but the rest of us enjoyed them.

Team meeting on Wednesday night

We met on Wed. night to watch the movie. We made waffles at Allee's dorm (even though Jake apparently isn't a big fan of them- should have told us!) and sat and watched. We talked about the movie some after our showing. We also brainstormed what we should do on our video. We might spice it up a little, but be warned: Rhett did not learn his dance moves from me. Anyways, our next meeting is Tuesday. By then we're going to have a lot of research done. Not just mentally, but we're going to physically have notes, ideas, etc. We can then really nail down what we're doing for our project and potentially even start on the video this coming week.

My personal responsibility is to really nail down the facts of what happened. I already feel that this movie was pretty historically accurate because it was actually about being accurate and checking facts prior to reporting (plus we got a glimpse of Bailey and Noelle's video:), but I'll certainly do my homework to make sure this is true. I also am assigned to figure out dominant ideologies presented in the film and how they relate to reality. Exciting!

Team Meeting 11/11

Last night, we ate waffles, watched Goodnight and Good Luck, and had a neat-o rapping session. We took notes as we watched the movie and split our research into four sections. We decided for sure on doing a movie, and discussed the format of the movie.

We decided that we don't have enough to do to meet on Monday, so our next meeting will be on Tuesday during the class time.

Group Meeting - Tuesday, Nov 9

Our group met and discussed when we were going to watch the movie, and we turned it into a waffle party, even though it's at 9:00. Who says you can't have breakfast for dinner? It's going to be lots of fun =] We also split up who was going to analyze what in the movie, and decided that once we get our filming done, I am going to edit the film, which I enjoy to do.

First Meeting

Our first meeting was yesterday in the library. We decided what we wanted to do and divided up responsibilities. Rhett wrote them down. I'm researching facts and ideologies. We plan to get together in a couple of hours to have a waffle party and watch the video. Rhett is bringing mixed berries. Jake is getting cool whip. I am bringing syrup. Allee is making the waffles and she's got the movie. :) Good deal, group.

The Blowing-Away Continues

Today we held our first group meeting for Project #3, at the assigned time on Tuesday. It went swimmingly. We assigned research topics to each group member, and planned a group time to watch our film, "Good Night and Good Luck." We are all excited to research our topics and analyze the film together.

Below is the list of the different research responsibilities of each team member:

Allee: Framing and Framing from the NY Times
Mariah: Historical Facts and Dominant Ideologies
Jake: Themes and Editing
Rhett (me): Construction of Reality, and C.R. from the NY Times

I know it's past the deadline, so this post doesn't have to count.

If you guys thought our book was good before, you're in for a treat. :) I just spent another couple of hours printing up dividers, a cover page (and drawing a cartoon of us), and putting it all in order. We rock, guys! Boo-yah!

The Final Showdown in the Library- November 1

The final meeting of this jam-packed series of team meetings has concluded with an extremely productive meeting. We finalized the blog, made six more analyses from the website for the portfolio, and a beautiful portfolio was created by Mariah and Jake. Nick further developed his tab, and I also further categorized cartoon analyzations for other tabs that full under multiple categories. Also, the general tabs like the Introduction, Theories, and Conclusion were developed to provide a wraparound context for the six tabs that categorize each of the cartoons and how they relate to and frame immigration. We have a powerful website, and have labored diligently.
Brenda, prepare to be blown away.

Oct. 29- Individual Work

I made more analyzations of cartoons, and had to find several pictures again on-line to be able to put them on the website because I had found them through a hard copy initially. It was tedious, but I retrieved nearly all of them, and I'm happy with the way my assigned tab of "pro-immigration" has developed.

Oct. 29- Yet Anotha Group Meeting

Today we had a solid group meeting. Me, Allee, Mariah, and Nick were there. We assembled more of our website. It was a really solid group meeting, and got much more group. I am really impressed with our group. We had people in the room working on it as early as 2, and as late as 4. We made much progress on our blog. I'm happy that we held this meeting because of the progress that was made, and we set another one for Monday at 9 PM at the library to ensure that we will be ready for Tuesday.

Meeting tonight

Tonight, we met at the library at 9 and we're still here (2 and 1/2 hours later). We finished pasting all our cartoons/evaluations in the book. We ended up with 29 evaluations. (Rhett's the man!) We finished things on our blog, and the conclusion is being typed onto the blog right now. I feel like we really nailed this project, and we went above and beyond to get things right. We worked well together, and it's great.

Good job, guys!

-Mariah

Team Meeting Nov 1, start at 9, end at 12 baby!

I came to the meeting, helped with the blog navigation, cut analysis and images, then updated some posts on the blog.

And what we did today... 'twas AWESOME! Had a good time with everyone, and time went by quickly while we worked on our project.

Allee-Blog Work

Today I spent three hours on the blog, finalizing everything.

Coordinator Report-Team Meeting-11/1/10

Today we finished publishing everything! We double checked our links, and finished our conclusion. :) After three hours, we're done!

Last Team Meeting Tonight

We're meeting at 9 pm in library room 120.

Typing and Posting

I've spent an hour typing and posting information on the blog.

Work for the project

I spent an hour and a half this weekend looking up facts/information for our blog. I also have spent an hour cutting out cartoons and pasting them in the book, and I'm not done yet.
